
(BEIJING, May 17) -- Tickets for the last Good Luck Beijing event at the National Stadium, or the "Bird's Nest" – the China Athletics Open scheduled to take place from May 22-25 – went on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16 with most of ticket buyers having on their eye on China's star hurler Liu Xiang.
Hundreds of tickets for the men's 110m final were sold out in half an hour, the Jinghua Times reported.
Volunteers maintaining order told the paper that most of the buyers enquired when Liu Xiang will compete in the men's 110m hurdles.
Some ticker buyers arrived at the ticket booths as early as 8:00 a.m. At 10, when tickets were on sale, a long queue has been formed, the paper reported.
Workers at the ticket booths said a limited number of tickets will be on sale every day so that spectators have opportunities to buy tickets for the 110m hurdles finals. "Seats may not be for late buyers."
The Open has 46 events and 932 athletes, 21 athletes with a disability and 487 officials from 11 countries will take part in the competition. Of the 953 athletes, 799 are from China.
