Beijing, 22 May - Comments from athletes after Round 1 of the women's 400m hurdles at the National Stadium on Thursday.

Huang Xiaoxiao (CHN, SHD) - Final Qualifier

On her performance:
"It was just OK. I got 55'44" today, I reserved my energy because it was not a very important race for me."

On her expectation:
"I do not force myself to win a medal in the Olympics. I only hope I could perform better. There will be the Reebok event in New York soon, I hope I could get a better score."

On her tactics today:
"I am currently doing some adjustment in tactics for the Olympics. I changed the stride pattern between the hurdles."

Wang Xing (CHN, HUA) - Final Qualifier

On her performance:
"I did all right, but I believe I have more potential."

On her expectation for the Final:
"I hope I can reach the B Standard."

Lauren Boden (AUS) - Final Qualifier

On her performance:
"I'm very happy to get the second place in Heat 1 and finish third in the event. I'm going to do my best for the rest of the tournament. And I really enjoy it as a good experience."

Satomi Kubokura (JPN) - Final Qualifier

On her performance:
"My result is 56:73. Back home I have already reached the B Standard and not yet the A Standard. So I'm not sure of my qualification for the Olympics. The qualifying event in Japan at the end of June will decide this. If I can do well at the first hurdle I can usually finish successfully. I'm not at my best today and will try to do my best tomorrow."

On her adjustment of daily habits:
"I try to adjust my daily habits so that I am better prepared for the competition."

On the venue:
"I find the track is bit sticky, a bit too soft, too bouncy."

Wang Hui (CHN, JSU) - Final Qualifier

On her performance:
"It's not good. My legs felt very heavy. Perhaps I've slept too much (laugh). I didn't have systematic training beforehand, and I had injuries."

On her goal:
"I'll try to get good ranks, and improve myself during the race, because the final result will relate to the Olympics."

Zhang Rongrong (CHN, CHQ) - Final Qualifier

On her performance:
"I did OK. I'm satisfied with the fact that I've qualified for the final, because I've been troubled by injuries in my left meniscue, and I haven't been training a lot. I've already achieved the goal set by my coach."
