(Beijing, May 23) In today's men's and women's 100m semifinals of the 2008 China Athletics Open, all Chinese athletes from the national teams advanced to the finals except Qin Wangping, who had pulled out of the semifinals after scoring 11.57 in yesterday's first-round preliminaries.
Wen Yongyi from Guangdong Province, who had reached Olympic B standard, finished eighth with 10.44. "I didn't do well today," he admitted after the race. "A slow start broke my pace for the final spurt. But I think I can do better in the final. I have confidence in myself."
Both the men's and women's sprint finals will be held this evening.
