BEIJING, 23 May - Comments from gold medallist Tsami Tanno (JPN), silver medallist Wang Jinping (CHN, HLJ) at the women's 400m press conference at the National Stadium on Friday.
Tsami Tanno (JPN) - gold medallist
On the National Stadium:
"Before the Beijing Olympics, I got this chance to try out the track which is really precious. I will get myself ready for the race based on this experience."
On the performance:
"Although I got the medal, I did not reach my goal to break my own records, and I did not reach the A standard. I feel it is a pity. However, there is a two second gap between the runner up and me, which is very satisfying."
On comparing Asian athletes with other athletes around the world:
"As an Asian athlete, there is still quite a big gap, but if we could try harder, even little improvement is rewarding, and we could catch up step by step. Strength is not our strong point, and also speed, but we will work on accelerating our speed."
Wang Jinping (CHN, HLJ) - silver medallist
On the difference between the result and her expectation:
"I adore the Bird's Nest so much. Breaking my personal best at 53.15 is not my ultimate goal, but I had a very easy mindset in the final. My object was only to do my best. I need to adapt myself into the best shape and condition for the coming Beijing Olympics."
