Li Xiangyu clinches men's 800m gold

(Beijing May 25) Li Xiangyu from China's Shanxi Province clocked 1:48.39 to pocket the men's 800m gold at the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Athletics Open this evening.

Li holds the national record in 800m with a time of 1:46.67. Speaking of his performance today, he said "I'm not satisfied with the result. Although I have reached the Olympic B Qualification, I am still capable of meeting the A Qualification."

Xia Xiudong from Zhejiang notched the silver in 1:48.91 while the bronze went to Sudanese William Filip, who finished in 1:49.40.
