(Beijing, May 25) In the women's triple jump final on the last day of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Athletics Open, China's Xie Limei cleared 14.39 meters to win the event as expected. The silver and bronze medals went to Li Qian with 13.93m and Sha Li with 13.73m respectively.

With an opening jump of 14.36m Xie Limei displayed overwhelming superiority over the rest of the competitors. With a fifth attempt of 14.39 the holder of the Asian triple jump record walked off with the title, to the expectation of all. The contention for the silver medal turned out to be hot, with Li Qian from Beijing outscoring Sha Li from Heilongjiang by a margin of 0.2m.

Bronze medalist Sha Li blamed herself for failing to bring out her best in the final, vowing that her next goal was to reach the Olympic qualification A standard.
