(Beijing, May 25) - Comments from medalists after men's decathlon at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Qi Haifeng (CHN, LNG) - Gold medalist
On his performance:
"I began my training only two months ago. I had a knee injury and hadn't gone through any systematic training. I just began the formal training one month ago."
On his injury:
"(They will have) no big influence (on my training and competition). I have had treatment and been adjusting myself in the last two years."
On his future plan of training:
"My advantage is in throw events, and in the future I want to improve my speed."
Zhu Hengjun (CHN, PLA) - Silver medalist
On his injuries and plans after this competition:
"I got a fracture in my foot last year, and it took me eight months to recover from it. This result is beyond my expectation. I'm preparing for the Olympic qualifier in June."
On his adjustment between the ten single events in men's decathlon:
"I gave myself good psychological hints to make my mentality healthy. I will relax my muscles and have a good rest."
On how to balance the training of the ten different events:
"The training program is conducted according to my coach's plan and the progress of the competition. Basically I will practice eight to ten events in a week."
On his role model:
"Qi Haifeng (CHN, LNG)(today's champion in the men's decathlon). He is the first decathlon to achieve more than 8000 points in China. Although we are not at the same age, he is always the goal of my pursuit and my worthy example."
Wang Jianbo (CHN,PLA) - Bronze medalist
On his performance:
"It is the spirit of participation that counts in sport. Although today I won a bronze medal, I still haven't reached the B standard. There is a wide gap between China's athletics and the world's level. I'm a soldier, and we don't train in financially favorable surroundings, but I must strive just as a soldier should do."
On his future plan:
"I expect to enter top three in the next year’s National Games."
